Everything You Need to Know About the New 2020 Toyota Corolla

The phenomenal thing about the 2020 Toyota Corolla is that it is a 12th generation complete redesign that's made the functional Corolla into a powerful, stylish and highly desirable model. The changes that came with the 2020 model have taken the Corolla into the future. Here is a look at the various upgrades that the new Corolla has undergone:

More Power

The new Corolla is loaded with a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that delivers much more power — 169 hp and 151 lb.-ft of torque — compared to its 2019 counterpart which produced only 139 hp. The 2.0-liter engine, however, is available only with the S, SE and SXE models while the L, LE and LXE variants come with a 1.8-liter engine.

Folks can choose between a Continuous Variable Transmission and a six-speed manual transmission, with the 2.0-liter engine. The fundamental difference as you may already know is that the 6-iMT will be more engaging and a lot more fun to drive, while the CVTi-S gets you through traffic and unfamiliar roads without much effort and thought about the gear you're driving in.

Since the 2020 Corolla has been gifted with more power, it's natural to assume that its fuel efficiency is low. But that's not the case with the 2020 Corolla — in fact, the model is more fuel efficient than earlier models. The 2020 models deliver 30 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway. And as a first for the Corolla, it is also available as a hybrid. The Hybrid LE model is offered with a 1.8L engine paired with two batteries. The hybrid delivers an amazing 53 mpg, which is much higher than most of its competitors.

Upgraded Design

The 2020 Corolla has been given a sporty and futuristic look with the newly sculpted body placed on the unified highly acclaimed TNGA platform. The bold, dynamic front grille makes for a more aggressive feel, which can also be used to differentiate between the six variants. Front dual-beam J-shaped, LED headlights and rear taillights (each variant is given a unique design) along with larger 18-inch alloy wheels and a body-colored chin spoiler in the front has made the Corolla a car that's to be desired.

The interiors have been given silver accents with piano-black layers. Some versions come with adjustable cabin lighting. The audio, navigation and other car controls are placed at the center of the front dashboard on an eight-inch touchscreen monitor. State-of-the-art software and intelligent controls make life a whole lot easier, appealing to both young and old drivers alike.

Not only is the 2020 Corolla futuristic in terms of style and power, but also in terms of safety. Toyota's Safety Sense 2.0 system makes sure of this with numerous safety features such as the pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, road edge detection with a sway warning system, lane departure alert with steering assist, auto high beams and more. In addition, standard safety features such as eight airbags, ABS, LATCH tether and anchors for child safety seats, a tire pressure monitoring system, hill start assist and more are also present to ensure maximum safety for the passengers.

On the whole, Toyota has outdone itself with the 2020 Corolla and has made Corolla enthusiasts even more thrilled to own a Corolla.
